The World's Longest Cigar...

....Led by CEO Wallace Reyes and his wife Margarita, the Gonzalez Habano Cigar Co. Ltd, set the record for the world's longest cigar on November 18, and will make the Guinness Book of World Records. The creation of the 101 feet stogie by Reyes and assistant volunteer cigar makers was a highlight of the 11th annual Cigar Heritage Festival in Tampa's Ybor City. It was also a kickoff to the company's 85th anniversary celebration throughout 2007.

....Creating the super-cigar is a project Reyes has worked on for eight years, and he is also doing a documentary film on it. He was confident he could do it, "I discovered a formula in which length is no obstacle," Reyes said. Assuming no one creates a longer cigar, the Reyes's record cigar will be acknowledged in the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 101 feet cigar cost $3,600 dollars, and with a price tag of $5,100, it will be sold in 6 inch pieces. Each will be presented in a shadowbox frame with its number, a reduced digital copy of Reyes's Guinness record and the signatures of Wallace and Margarita Reyes. Cost is $99 dollars plus $14 shipping. Proceeds go to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and the Ybor Museum. The new world record was confirmed by Guinness World Records, London, UK.
